Subject: After option for refund letter, what's next?
Hi to all who have been through with SAP application,

Has anyone here received a similar letter as below? After this letter, approximately how long is the next letter request for documents will be?

Appreciate your response and thank you in advance!

**************************************************
Dear,

This letter is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada, received Aug 23, 2007. Citizenship and Immigration Canada requests that you confirm whether or not you are still interested in immigrating to Canada.

If you are no longer interested in immigrating to Canada and you wish to withdraw your application, please contact the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei within 45days to confirm your mailing information, and we will return your full application fee.

If we do not hear from you within this timeframe, we will assume your continued interest in immigrating to Canada, and your application and fees will be retained for future processing. No further offers to return your fee will be sent. When we are ready to actively begin processing your application we will contact you to request your updated information, however at this point you will not be eligible for a refund of your processing fee.

Thank you for your interest in Canada. If you are no longer interested in immigrating to Canada and would like a full refund of your application fee, please notify us within the next 45days.

Sincerely yours,
Canadian Trade Office in Taipei

given the change in rules, they are working their way through the applications to see if people still want to continue with the process - last chance for a refund.

you may wish to consider a withdrawl and a application under the rules that are due to come out.

I see......

Thanks Sharon!

I thought the processing is becomming faster now because in my AOR, it says that I can no longer refund my application fee soon as they requested my documents and started to process my application...

but with this letter, I can no longer refund my application fee after the 45days given period even without requesting for my documents yet...

are they issuing this letter to all visa offices?

In my opinion, they want you to withdraw your old application and apply again under the new rules.

what embassy are we talking? some embassies have 5-7 year waits so a 2007 application is a far distance down the pile. If your embassy is currently suggesting more than 2-3 years wait I would strongly consider withdrawing and applying under the new rules ASSUMING that you have an NOC code that will be considered as high demand.

either way, I would think it better to know if Canada will accept you sooner rather than later. the withdrawl/reapply may be the best and fastest way to resolve the entire question

I filed my application in Canada Trade office in Taipei, Taiwan. They are one of the fastest processing office.

Submitted on Aug. 23, 2007 as stated in the letter and its been exactly 1 year to the date of this letter.
Waiting time in my AOR is 20~24months, therefore, I should have 10~14months to go.

So I don´t think the new rule matters in my case because if I re-applied it should will be processed approximately same time (assuming my NOC belongs to the high demand).

Hi,CHC issues this type of letter( I read from other forums) from every Offices in order to reduce the backlog and unnecessary work.

If you withdraw now and apply again; then there is a chance your Occupation may not be in the list..so don´t take a risk ...WAIT AND CALM

if angel´s NOC code is not on the list, there is a distinct chance that the application will sit and collect dust while newer applications with the right NOC codes take precident and fill the quota.

Let´s see what Roy has to say.

Angel you are right, the new rules(if there will be any) are irrelevant to you.
