Subject: Best place to live
  Hi to all viewers,

I have read up in books, online and online in forums about the different places to live in Canada and I´m still unsure as to where is the best place to live in Canada. I know in Vancouver the crime rate isn´t that good and it´s always raining so thought about Calgary.
I live in the UK and the crime rate is awful and getting worse, cost of living is getting worse. I want somewhere to bring my kids up, in a safe and friendly environment.
Can anyone give me good solid advice?

Thanks to anyone who replies

Dubai is the safest place to live in, food is excellent, nobody asks for free cigarettes, or spare pennies, no one breaks into your house or car, no drug sales, no gangs, no homeless but somebody told me that it is not in Canada, so you make the choice...i know you are concerned about your kids, but remember when they reach 18 you have to kick their ass since you will not be able to look after with the money you get in Canada, just for your information the number of kids per a family is 1.3 in canada, doesnt this explain the situation?

Finland..if you can manage a job and speak Finnish. NO crime..foods are expensive ( VAT is 17 and 22%). You get child benefits 100/child/month.Municipal day care is free but if you work you have to pay something ..depends on your income ( maximum 233?)
.If you unemployed ( even if you take it by yourself)..get 350?/month.Free education system until PH.D.
Medical is free( except dental,eyecare...even though Govt will give you 40% reduction price). If you have insurance card you will get medicine 40% less ( govt will pay that).
Also if you work you will get 30days vacation in a year and also vacation money.

Trolls

Well it looks like (you think) you want a quieter life.

Look to the maritime provinces and their cost of living. They are not that ethnic diverse and depending on you, there might not be a lot to do or plenty to do. Go to www.mls.ca and search for the price of homes on or close to the sea.

This is about as small town, safe ville environment you will find anywhere in the world.

Guys,

The original poster needs help about Canada. He is not trying to find the best place in the world.

My first advice, try to focus on your professional prospects first rather than finding an apparet nice place. Then start from there.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, but like DC said I am enquireing only about Canada.

DC My hubby is in the floorlaying industry so where ever that type of work is.
We thought about Vancouver but I´ve heard of so many negative things about the place just through forums like this.
We want to travel to Canada next yr but we can´t afford to go to every city.
I hear that Ottawa is good. Do u have any veiws on there?

Thanks again for all responses

I live in Vancouver and you could not pay me to live anywhere else.

Disneyland is not a real place.

Buy a staple gun and a compressor and your in business for a long prosperous time no matter where you reside.

Where abouts in Vancouver are the good parts? Does it bother you about the amount of rain you get there?

If it´s raining it means it is not snowing. Rain is great for the complexion and we like our green grass year round. 10 days without rain and I get a little squirrely.

good parts of Vancouver. what does that mean? Expensive parts - you will likely say all parts are expensive. Dangerous parts - the 6 blocks around Main & Hastings. East side is more affordable than west side. Consider Richmond, North Delta, Burnaby... all suburbs with decent transit connections.
