Subject: Help Teacher In Need
Can anyone help me, I´m a british Primary years teacher who has taught in England for 2 years and abroad for 4 years (in 2 different countries). I´m now back in the UK and have seen several programes saying how Albert is in need of so many skilled Immigrants. One in paticular was on GMTV here and there was a Canadian offical who was talking about a list of jobs that need filling badly in Alberta and teachers was one of them. Now I have a family in Ontario and would love to move to Canada I have done alot of travelling around Canada and alot of looking at immigrating there and being a teacher it seemed impossible, as Canada had more than enough of there own! Now I see this guy on tv here saying Alberta needs teachers and another programe 5 weeks ago talking about Canada and the same again teacher shortages in Alberta. Can anyone shed some light for me please as Canada is dream for me as it is for many?

Thank you all.

My agent told me that indeed teaching is an occupation under pressure in Alberta but I don´t know whether it´s true or a speculation. I received my file number in less than a month after I applied. I am also an educator with 10 years of teaching experience. I´m still waiting for any update about the new immigration laws in Canada because I submitted my application after February 28. I´m hoping and praying for positive results.

1) any teacher arriving in Canada must have their credentials vetted by the Teachers College for each province. BC and Alberta have just combined some of those requirements to make it easier for the migration of workers within the 2 provinces to move back and forth.

BC has delining enrollment and teachers with no work. Not sure about you, but I suspect many teachers from BC will be taking themselves to Alberta to work.

I would contact the Alberta College of Teachers to get the honest scoop about your prospects.
