Subject: Proof of funding while landing
  Dear All

I am going to stay in Canada until reciept of my PR card (that will be not more that 2 months and going to stay at my friend´s house). This is why, I would like to carry 1000 CAD cash and two of my international debit Card ( wort 4000 CAD.Rest of the ammount, I would like to show through my Bank statement/ letter from my banks to the immigration officer.

is bank statement/ confirmation letter of fund form my home country acceptable as proof of fund (as treated in hand money)to the immigration officer? Pls. somebody clarify this matter.

I would say, do not take the risk and bring the required amount with you for landing purposes. Because you never know what kind of person you will be dealing with. People on H-1 visa from USA land and leave and they hardly bring any funds with them because they have a definite proof that they will be leaving in few days so immigration does not care much about proof of funds. If you are not coming from USA and you are not on H-1 visa, bring the money in the form of cash, cerified cheque, international money ordfer in your name or bank draft in your name...bank statements wont work neither the debit cards. Bring the certified cheque and if you are leaving the country soon, you can take the cheque back with you and surrender in your bank and tell you do not need it now. The asiest way. Do a risk free landing and bring the moeny and then bring it back with you or keep in canadian account its up to you....

Just make sure that you do not carry with you more than the equivalent of USD $10,000 because that is a crime, you may be charged for Money laundering BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!

Fernando that´s rubbish!!!!!!!!!!
You have to DECLARE any amount over 10,000 CAD but you are still perfectly entitled to bring it in.
Please check your facts before posting
