Thanks for your concern.
Yes, we are kind a worried, since the Katrina havoc we didn´t have so much threat. Our only peace of mind that we are in the central Florida, way safer than southern Florida. Usually hurricanes don´t hit Orlando that much. People weren´t panicked here also at the time of Fay. Fay only brought us some heavy rain. Though just 30 miles north of us some localities are still flooded.
Worse part is so far the actual path of Ike is not certain. So far all of the published predicted paths are showing a good chance of getting away (at least the cental Florida, evacuation already started from the Keys). Hope they remain correct.

Yes, we are. Before Fay I bought some canned/dry food and when that threat went away we ate up almost all in a picnic mode. Looks like time to pile again.
This appears to be a house warming gift for us, this is our first year in first home...

I wouldn´t mind Sam.
Main reason is career. US may have several dark sides, however, still in the US creating a professional career as an foreign alien is much more easier, what ever the reasons are. Don´t mix up this with simply high US salary as interpreted by the most and call me money hungry.
Apart of that I have some other reasons too which aren´t even comparable to this career point. In other word, to me I wouldn´t compare USA Canada before this point.
