HI GUYS,
I AM A NEW COMER IN CANADA, AS A TEMPORARY WORKER,
I HAD BEEN IN MANY COUNTRIES, BUT I NEVER BEEN IN A PLACE LIKE CANADA.
IT IS VERY EASY TO GET ALONG WITH THE GREAT CANADIAN PEOPLE.THEY ARE VERY NICE(SO FAR).
I FEEL SECURE HERE, NEAT STREETS, GOOD HEALTH CARE, FREE EDUCATION FOR MY KIDS.(THE TAX I AM PAYING WORTH IT)
ALSO I HEARD GOVT. GOING TO CANCELL THE HEALTH CARE PREMIUM NEXT YEAR,BUT STILL I LIKE TO PAY THAT PREMIUM
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT I AM PAYING A RENT OF 2300$ FROM MY POCKET.
BUT IT DOES NOT WORRY ME, I NEED QUALITY OF LIFE(THAT I AM GETTING NOW), EARN MONEY HERE AND SPEND IT HERE.
I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT I AM IN THE PERFECT AND SAFEST PART OF THE WORLD.
I GUESS THE MOST TROUBLE MAKERS ARE IN THE CITY,WHERE I LIVE IS IMMIGRANTS.
I HATE THOSE GUYS AND I REQUEST THEM TO JOIN THE MAINSTREAM OF CANADA.

I have been in Fort Mc for over 10 years. It is a great place. Is this going to be your first winter here?
Winters are a little chilly in this neck of the woods.
I think we are going to have an early winter this year.

Why he cost of living in Fort McMurray is so high ?
Here in Calgary I heard many bad things about Fort McMurray but I would like to hear more about it from the people who live there.
Why Fort McMurray would be a great place to live ? And is it a good place to raise kids ? I can´t find much info from the internet just wondering.

Hi CBV333,
Bad things about Fort Mc? Well.... it depends.
People always talk about crime rate, drugs and so on.
I have been here for over 10 years and I have never had any problems, probably because I don´t use drugs or go to weird places.
I live in a gorgeous neighborhood and I like what I do for living. Outdoor activities are decent and we have everything here.
To raise kids?
Unfortunately this is a work town, although there are decent schools and tons of activities for children I think that there are better places in this province to raise kids. My personal choice would be Calgary actually.
Downfall.... Too many people on temporary basis so no one makes this place their "home".
Weather sucks in the winter although we have great summers.
Economy is awesome, income is probably higher than anywhere else in this country (in most careers).
Cost of living is no different than any other city in Alberta except housing.
Houses and rent are very expensive due to the high demand and a lack of houses.
That´s why I say, it is a good place to live when you have a place to live.

Hi all, I have been reading all about Fort McMurray and am looking for a job through the internet, but no takers yet. Just wondering if I drive out in the next few weeks will it be worth my time, is it really that easy to find a job out there? I am in south western Ontario currently, I am a new welder just finished 2 years of school with TSSA and CWB. I have been dreaming of living in northern Canada all my life.
