Subject: Sister got PR, Process to sponsor me
Hi

My sis got her PR status in March this year and now working in Canada. What are the processes that she can follow to sponsor her brother for his migration. What are the requirements that she and her brother needs to fulfil?

Hi Jnathan,

As far as I know your sister cannot sponsor you directly... However your sister can sponsor your parents and if you are dependent to your parents then you maybe included in the sponsorship as dependent of your parents.

There is another possibly wherein you sister can ASSIST you (not sponsorship) in immigrating to Canada thru the Provincial Nominee Program. Some provinces of Canada accept nomimees through the family class stream.

How about immigrating on your own merit? Canada has the Federal Skilled Worker Class. You might qualify under this category. You will have 5 points in the adaptability factor since your sister is an immigrant.

Good luck!

i think the fastest way is to have your sister help you find an employer in Canada either TFW or PNP then apply your PR when you get there.

all the best!

Your sister can sponsor you under the Alberta PNP program.
But your sister has to meet the sponsorship requirements.

Replies are depressing and Chances seem slim !!
So the conclusions I can reach that

1. my Sis needs to be in Canada for at least 2 years and get her Citizenship whose status is now a Permanent Resident.
2. Provincial options seems far as my sis has her hubby in Ontario, so she wouldnt relocate for sure.
3. So my only chance is to apply as skilled worker and wait for 5 years.
4. Another one is my sis can apply for our mom and I(unmarried) would then be the last person in the country where I am currently residing and get applied by our mom to the Immigration Canada for humanitarian grounds for my loneliness for immigration.

Roy, what do you say? Thanks to others for the answers.

- No. She can sponsor you even if she is a PR BUT she has to prove that she has been living in the province of Alberta for a minimum of 2 years, which in this case doesn´t matter since your sister lives in Ontario.

2. Provincial options seems far as my sis has her hubby in Ontario, so she wouldnt relocate for sure.

Nothing you can do there, I am not sure how the PNP works in the province of Ontario.

3. So my only chance is to apply as skilled worker and wait for 5 years.

- Pretty much.

4. Another one is my sis can apply for our mom and I(unmarried) would then be the last person in the country where I am currently residing and get applied by our mom to the Immigration Canada for humanitarian grounds for my loneliness for immigration.

- Good try, but is not how it works.

See if you can obtain a student or work permit to come to Canada.

Cheers

nope- sorry. if you are over 22 the sponsorship door is closed in any province other than Alberta.

My sis would no way relocate to Alberta just to sponsor me, so this option is written off. But I got another q.

How do Immi Canada determines the adaptability points?
I got my student visa for 3 yrs posted on my passport but I had to come back from after a few months for family reasons, Will that stay be count? Will I get the adaptability points? Coz they give away that point to ppl who stayed in Canada for a year I guess.
