Subject: US citizen immigrating to Canada on a Spouse Visa |

Hi
I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is US citizen. she is currently with me here on a visitor status for 6 months and i hope to extend that. I could apply for her immigration by the IN CANADA process or OUTSIDE canada process but i am not able to decide which one....there are pros and cons on both. Does anyone know how long it is really taking for papers to get processed for IN CANADA or OUTSIDE CANADA (in Buffalo)....it says 8 months for Buffalo (OUTSIDE CANADA) and 6 months for first stage and unspecified for 2nd Stage for IN CANADA process. If Outside canada process takes more than 6-7 months, i am thinking i will just apply for the In Canada process because she will atleast get a work permit after first stage approval in 6 months, but the call center´s standard answer is that outside Canada is sometimes faster.....
Can someone please advise? thanks so much

(in reply to: US citizen immigrating to Canada on a Spouse Visa) Outside of Canada is faster and safer.
If apply from within Canada and for some reason your application is refused, you have no right to appeal the officer´s decision.
If you apply from abroad, you can appeal the decision.
Cheers
Bill
