Subject: birth and marriage ceritificates from india
  Hi,

I am applying for my parents immigration but immigration checklist says it would require birth certificates for my parents and their marriage certificate. Also they said they need proof that they are indeed my parents by my birth certificate.
In india there is no concept of these certificates and my parents have no certificates. There are no wedding pictures too. In my birth certificate, only my father name is mentioned. My mom´s name is not mentioned.

What should i do? Can somebody from india advise me how they did it for their parents.

Affidavit and DNA test (in reply to: birth and marriage ceritificates from india)
Please refer to item 5.7 to 5.12 in the following operations guide, through this link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/manuals-guides/english/op/op01e.pdf

This guide refers to other evidences, such as school records which might refer to your parents, affidavits from prominent citizen (I guess your local MP in India)and finally, as a last resort, a DNA sample.

Hope this is helpful to you

Thanks Will, i will read through the document. Also I heard that i could submit the passport itself as date of birth certificate as it contains that info. For marriage certificate probably i will send all the documents where they are listed together like bank statements, property ownership papers, govt issued ration card which has the list of family members in it.
