Because of the new benefit for students enrolled in a 2-year program in canada which is the 3-year work permit and the new immigrant class where canadian educated foreigners with at least 2 years of education in canada and 1 year work experience will have greater chanced of getting PR status, my brother plans on taking up a 2 year IT Diploma course with a college in Toronto. He plans on bringing his wife, what type of visa is the wife getting, is it the open work permit visa or just a temporary resident visa (visitor) which she has to change to the open work permit when she´s in Canada. Isn´t it automatic that when the student visa holder applies with his spouse, the latter automatically gets the open work permit.
Further, with a student permit for a full time diploma course that runs for 4 semesters, considering the lenght of the study, my brother intends to bring his kids over but this depends on whether his kids are actually gonna be educated here for free with any schools run by the TCDSB or the TDSB. This is a major issue for him since if education is not free, he doesnt intend to bring them but if it is, he would bring his kids both in primary school, because that would be a good exposure for them.
Another thing his classes would start in January and the kids are still in the middle of school in our home country which will end by March and the most logical choice for him is to bring the kids over by Septmber for the new school year, will that be a bad idea that they don´t arrive together...

Too hard and too complicated, always money is a problem, if he could get a student visa and attaching his family as accompaying him while his 2y studies take part in Canada. I think this way is too hard of getting visa for a family...
The other way which is easier but not good for a family is that your brother can get easily his Student visa, and study in Canada, as soon as he is at the end of his studies he could get his work permitt and later he could take his family with him... but this is not good because family will stay seperated for years , which is HARD
