Subject: FSW - Regular Application Process
I am currently on work permit (with positive LMO) and I have been in Canada (legally) for over 1 year.

I intend to apply for the FSW (Regular Application), please advise if the current suspension of application processing at visa offices affect FSW - Regular Application. If it does not affect it, my plan is to apply now.

Waiting for your advice. Thanks

Yes it does effect the processing time, if submitted after Feb 28th, 2008. Can you apply under PNP? That may be faster.

Ray, thanks

I reaaly prefer the PNP strea,, the only challenge I have is that Im only qualified for the Int Student and Skilled Workers Stream in Alberta and (as a matter of policy), my employer will only nominate after 1 year, I am only over 3 mths with them.

Do u have any other advice for me?

I am not sure I understand what you said. You only have a job for 3 months, or you have been with them for 3 months but the job is permanent?

If its the latter, than I am not sure what the issue is. If you apply on skilled worker program, its not like you are going to get the PR tomorrow. IT will still take time (at least a year).

If its a former, its much easier to find a job when you are local, so why don´t you look for another job and extend your work permit?

Its the latter..its a permanent job but I have only been with them for 3 months...the company has already secureda positive LMO and the Wwrk permit extension is in process,

I was considering FSW_regular stream bcos I felt b4 I am nominated in another 9 mths + processing time, it will almost be longer than applying thru the FSW right now, but since u have confirmed to me that it wont be processed immediately now, its not worth it.

Thanks, Ray

Well, if you dont want to risk it, you can always apply for the Federal program and then have that switched to PNP when you are ready for that. At least you will get in the queue.

I am sure you have looked at the Alberta´s PNP program, if you havent, its at:
