Subject: Family based immigration
  I am currently in Canada as PR. My wife and 2 yr old daugther are also in PR status in Canada. My only sibling is a sister who is 28 yrs old and unmarried. She lives in India. Can I sponser her for PR under family based immigration. I have no other relative in Canada, and my old parents in India do not wish to immigrate to Canada. Please advise. Your suggestions/advice is sincerely appreciated. Thanks

Under family class immigration, you can sponsor:

* parents
* grandparents
* children adopted outside of Canada or intended to be adopted in Canada
* brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, grandsons or granddaughters who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not a spouse or common-law partner
* any other family member if there is no spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew who is a Canadian citizen, registered Indian or permanent resident or whom you may sponsor.

Good luck!

your wife would be considered your family by Canadian rules. therefore you are not eligible to sponsor your sister. Alberta may have something they can offer. Alternately, she can consider coming on her own merits.

hi everyone,
UCCB is a taxable federal grant. Can we mension it as part of income if we are going to sponsor someone for immigration in family class.
