Subject: ROY PLEASE HELP

REGARDING POLICE CLEARENCE I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS.

I WAS WORKING IN OMAN FOR 2 YEARS. WHEN I LEFT OMAN IN 2007 I OBTAINED POLICE CERTIFICATE(AUGUST-2007). THEN AFTER I WAS IN INDIA FOR 3 MONTHS AND RIGHT NOW I AM WORKING IN CANADA.

CAN I SUBMITT MY PCC OBTAINED FROM OMAN IN 2007 ALONG WITH CURRENT PCC FROM INDIA?

ALSO I HEARD THAT CANADIAN PCC IS NOT REQUIRED UNLESS VISA OFFICE REQUEST FOR ONE

KINDLY ADVICE

Local Requests
Applicants should apply in writing for a Good Conduct Certificate. The letter should include the applicant?s full name, date and place of birth, nationality, passport number, date and place of issuance, profession and dates of residence in the sultanate. The letter should also state that the certificate is for Canadian immigration purposes and a letter from the Canadian visa office stating that the applicant is intending to immigrate to Canada must be included with the application (available at www.canada.org.uk). The written request should be sent to:

Inspector General of Police and Customs
P.O. Box 2
Muscat, Sultanate of Oman

Applicants are also required to report to the Royal Oman Police for fingerprint comparisons.

Non-Resident Requests
Applicants must follow the same procedures as above, and forward their fingerprints accompanied by a letter from a Canadian authority certifying the fingerprints.

can i answer your q?
Hey, Ama

You may submit your PCC in Oman. its validity is lifetime. Unless you came back to oman and stayed there again for more that 6 months after getting your PCC. If you stayed in India for at least 6 months since your 18th birthday, yes you need to submit Indian PCC as well.

Thanks,

Wolverine

Are you sure that a police certificate from Oman is valid for lifetime? Can you verify that please? My understanding is that police certificates expire after 6 months.

hey Ray,

Yes. Some PCC expires in 6 months, some is in 3 months just like PCC in UAE. but he never came back to Oman and stayed there again for at least minimum of 6 months, means no need for him to get another PCC in Oman. His old PCC will still be valid.

Interesting and may very well be true. But I think he should verify the validity with both Oman and CIC to make sure. I have never heard of a police certificate to be valid forever.

Any proof of no convictions have to be issued within the last six months prior to submitting them.

why would you provide new PCC in Oman wherein you have never been there again after you got your PCC on 2007. you were out of that country means no convictions occured.

IF there is any doubt ok submit your PCC in Oman which is in your hand for 90 days notice and they are not satisfied they will ask for a new one during medical stage. PCC may be submitted during medical as well. If they accepted it then you will see my point.

Congrats Ama. you re almost there.

Why you would need to provide a new certificate? Because of the following statement on the CIC´s website:

"The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application."

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

Wolverine, do you have a concrete knowledge that new certificate from Oman is not required or are you making this up?

According to CIC the certificate cannot be more then 3 months old. What about that statement do you not understand? Now of course, there may be a reason that for Oman specifically it might be ok. What I asked is do you have this on CIC´s authority or is this your own logic? If its your own logic, please note that CIC does not operate based on your logic. They operate based on their policies.

WOW Ray

They cut the time the certificates in half. Way to find that I just did not have the time lately to look it up! I should stay more up to date but I rarely if ever do any FSW´s.

To All ----- please try to research things on your own but do not take anything anyone here answers (including myself) as fact because someone says their answer is the 100% truth could get you into SERIOUS trouble.

Then when the Visa Officer or any other official asks you why you did (NOT) do a particular thing, answering "Wolverine said so on the Canada-City Forum" will not impress any government official. That also has to go for ________ said so as well.

When you sign an application you are responsible for the content on those forms.

Have a Great Day All!!!!!
