I am a PR in Canada, but have been working outside Canada for more than 3 yrs and haven´t visited Canada in over 3 years now. Have I lost my PR status automatically by staying out of Canada for over 3 yrs? What will happen if I try to return to Canada using PR card? please advise. Who do I need to contact before returning to Canada?

Unless you didn´t work for any Canadian company or accompany your Canadian spouse then your status is lost.

If you are lucky then you may enter into Canada with a valid PR card. Immigration will ask how long you were out of Canada...More than 3 yeras..Then they may let you in and you have to apply for humanitarian ground to revoke your PR status.

I am in the same situation now wat Rab had 2 years ago.

I am PR card holder, I am outside canada for 3 and half years, now i am returning to canada from India. I have left 18months . Will i be allowed to get in and stay for 18 months or I will be stopped at POE itself as i didnt mantain any status in first three and half years.

Rab : I think you have answer for this, pls share ur exp
