How to obtain a police certificate from Nigeria

Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?

Yes. However, the certificate will be released directly to the Canadian visa office upon request.

How or where do I obtain one?

Local Requests
Applicants should apply in person with their valid passport, two passport photographs and the applicable fees. Residents of Nigeria should apply to:

Central Criminal Registry
Force C.I.D. Annex
Alagbon Close Ikoyi
Lagos, Nigeria

Non-Resident Requests
Applicants should apply at the nearest Nigerian embassy or consulate with a copy of their passport and a set of fingerprints taken and certified by a recognized police authority or the Nigerian embassy or consulate, and an international money order payable to the Nigerian Police Force, CID.

NOW THE ISSUE IS THIS:
I AM A NON-RESIDENT AND HAVE JUST APPLIED TO MY EMBASSY IN LONDON FOR PC. DOES THE LAST PARAGRAPH IMPLY THAT I SHOULD HAND IN THE FORM WITH MY FINGER PRINT (AND INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDER) TO THE CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION WITH MY APPLICATION FORMS- AND THEY WILL IN TURN REQUEST FOR THE POLICE CERTIFICATE FROM THE POLICE AUTHORITY IN NIGERIA?

Charlo, you should send your finger prints with your request for the Police Certificate to the address that you have mentioned before (Nigeria). You will receive your Police Certificate and you should forward it to the Canadian High Commission with your application. Also, you can send it later.

Good luck!

The way I am reading the above statement is that you would have to apply for the certificate to the Nigerian embassy and they will the n forward the report to the CIC directly instead of giving it to you.

But you may want to confirm this with the Canadian and/or Nigerian embassies.
