Subject: Canadian citizen marrying foreign visitor in Canad
I have invited my boyfriend from the Philippines to visit me here in Canada and we plan to get married here. ( I am a Canadian citizen) We are both gay. I already visited him in his country. Can we apply for his immigration to Canada here in Canada after we get married or does he have to apply in his own country. He does have to return back to the Philippines as he has a return plane ticket, as this is a condition for him to get a visitor visa. Is there advantages or disadvatges as to where to apply for immigration.

There are 2 options, apply inland or apply outland. Applying outland is a generally faster process and you have the right to appeal should you not get a favourable outcome. To apply outland means that the application is being processed in Manila rather than in Canada. If your boyfriend/husband is in Canada, I don´t know if you are able to extend his visa if the PR application is in process. Someone else may be able to comment on this.

Be sure to have lots of evidence of your relationship.

Good luck

Common Sense helps Big Time, Embo!

You claim you have been to the Philippines to visit your partner so you have proof like a plane ticket, boarding pass, photos and hopefully you have friends who can write a letter stating you never shut up about Tom, Sam, Arnold or whom ever. Stop using phone cards unless the calls end up on your phone bill.

When your friends write a personal letter how you yap all the time how special Tom, Sam, Arnold or whom ever is be sure to include their status documents.

Quick question are you not putting the cart in front of the horse since it does not appear your future partner has a Canadian Visitor Visa? CVV approvals from Manila are not that easy to obtain. I can only assume no friends or family of his will be attending the wedding in Canada correct?

You have an uphill battle in front of you.

Wish you success.

I appreciate your information Roy, thanks. I have no problem documenting I was visiting in the Philippines. I have friends that will back me up. He does have a friend from the Philippines living here and am planning to invite him to the wedding. I know I have the cart before the horse so better to be prepared and give it our best.

Thanks again for your help

Regarding marrying a Canadian citizen (in reply to: Canadian citizen marrying foreign visitor in Canad)
Hello,
I am an Indian citizen working currently in the UK on a work permit and I would like to marry my partner who is a Canadian citizen.

What would be the country that would be fine for us to get married, so that I can immigrate without issues after marriage to the Canada permanently?

Would it be better to marry in Canada, for which I would need to apply for a visiting visa and then do a court marriage and then be back to the UK. Further then plan for immigrating to the Canada as a permanent resident with my partner.

Or would it be better to marry in the UK, for which my partner needs to fly down and we do a court marriage. Then I process my immigration to the Canada with my partner?

I am worried about the Canadian immigration after the marriage and don´t want to be stuck with immigration issues due to me going as a visitor to Canada and getting married or not following any rules !!

Hope I am clear and thanks for the reply.

marry with visitor (in reply to: Canadian citizen marrying foreign visitor in Canad)
Hi
I am a Canadian citizen and I love a woman in Costa Rica.
I want to bring her to Canada, we want to marry and live together in Canada.
I want to know what is easiest and shortest way to get our goal.
Can I invite her to visit Canada and get married with her here in Canada during her visiting in Canada? should I get permit, If I am allowed how long does it take all the process for marriage and certificate and apply to get permanent immigration visa for her?

Or you think is better I marry with her in Costa Rica and provide evidences and apply in Canada to get her immigration visa?
I am so confused, please let me know what is the best.
Thanks
