| Subject: Extending stay on visitors visa |

Hello,
I am currently in Canada on a visitor visa which expires Jan 14th.
I am married to a Canadian and am Irish, we have all the paper work for PR filled out and sent in and I would like to saty Cohabiting with my wife until we get an answer about the PR.
The question I have is what should I put in for PART B of form IMM1249E
My wife is a family member but she is a Canadian Citizen so why would they need any of her passport info or that?
Also what should we put as the reason for wanting to extend the visa cause if I put that we are waiting to see if I get my PR, this shows that I may technically leave the country. Would this be an issue??

Hi ya,
you have to fill out the Part B, i dont see any problem in it. just give them the information they require to extend your stay, and in reason say the truth that you want to stay with your wife untill you get your PR as an proof that you have applied for PR sent them an copy of your AOR.
me and family living here since 1 year on visitor status because we have applied for PR, last time I went to USA and came back so they told me that i should apply for an extension instead of crossing boarder and re-enter.(im a German citizen and dont need visa for USA/CANADA).
in most cases as i have heared..(please confirm from yur lawyer) specialy when you apply inland for PR you cannot leave the country so they have to extend your visitor status..

Thanks for that. I know for the inland pr application you don´t even need to reapply for extension.
But we are going through the outland process through CIC London just cause it´s less hassle and we can know one way or the other sooner.
The big thing is for some reason she doesn´t want the government to have her passport anything....I have no idea why...I think it´s because she has a british passport but she just been silly.
