| Subject: Medical + police certificate + other things |

I received a letter today with the following note: " We have been awaiting the results of background check which have not yet been concluded. Due to this delay, your medical results will expire on 1 Nov 2008 and will not be extended. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause.You will need to undergo new medical examinations in due course".
They also asked me to submit the IM0008 form again, along with photos for everybody and fresh police certificates.
My questions:
1) Does the above note mean I should send my new medical now, or I should wait till they ask for it (due course!)?
2) Have any body experienced this long period in processing security check that made him re-do his medicals? If yes, how long does it usually take after it already took one whole year (assuming they started it after receiving my medicals)?

you would think the instructions would say ´wait until we ask´ or ´do them again please´.
given the expiry date and how long it takes for you to have it done and forwarded to CIC, I would do it now so there are no potential delays.
as for your second question - good question with no answer.

Depends on where you are from, how many different places you have lived, what you do for a living and how common your name is. I have read on another forum that CSIS can take a long time to do the checks if you have a common name as they need to isolate you from everyone else. Likewise if you have lived in many places or had jobs with classified clearance, all of this needs to be checked out and they need the assistance of the agencies at the other end...
