(in reply to: Job opportunities for a banker) I was recently checking on this subject over the internet and found, financial sales and mortgage market is booming in Cananda. U might have to start as a teller for survival sake with some bank but in the mean time u can explore Loan officer positions with other banks. Which bank in India r u associated with?

Job opportunities for a banker (in reply to: Job opportunities for a banker) I am in senior management with the largest bank with international exposure. A teller postion would be a real let down.

(in reply to: Job opportunities for a banker) Don´t go with big hopes. Indian experience doesn´t count in Canada. I was also in a senior management position with an Indian company but after I landed in the US, I found my self no where. Yes, if u have some investment banking experience with some expertise in technology sector then I assure u will make it good. U might start as a business analyst or AVP with investment bank. Starting salary is within the range of $60k-$90K. Banks like ICICI, SBI, PNB, BOB have some vacancies with their overseas branches. Teller´s job is just for the sake of initial survival as it pays at least $15/hr.

(in reply to: Job opportunities for a banker) dont aim too high my friend; you will realize after coming to canada that your qualifications mean nothing. Lots of people here ewith MBA end up doing janitor jobs, pizza delivery, taxi drivers etc. I all depends on your fate. Sorry for being blunt.

(in reply to: Job opportunities for a banker) make sure your english skills are as good as your education. make sure you can write a letter or report in english. As well as in your native tongue.
That is 90% of your battle won. you might have to get your feet wet by doing a lesser job to prove yourself but your determination will pay off.
Consider the situation in reverse... I am Canadian, I know your language but not necessarily your system. The laws and regulations might be different too. My education looks good on paper but you have no idea of knowing. I want a job with you. You are the boss with an MBA...what would you do? Apply exactly what your MBA teaches you to your own situation. ´Show me´ knows no borders.
