Subject: Spouse Immigration from New Delhi, India
I got married on August 7, 2008 to a Canadian citizen of East Indian origin. We got married according to Hindu traditions.

On October 1, 2008 my husband applied for my Spouse Immigration once he went back to Canada. He was processed to be my Sponsor in a month?s time and received a letter on November 7, 2008 from CIC that now my papers have been sent to the Canadian High Commission, in New Delhi for processing. I am an Indian.

Would you know and guide us as to how much time on an average would it take for me to get a permanent residence in Canada under the family class? I need to plan for my movement to Canada as I am working and also need to give my firm ample notice period. Based on what you suggest, I will be able to take some decisions.

I now live with my in laws in New Delhi and my husband lives in his own house in Toronto.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,
