Subject: ontario health insurance
  Hi,
I want to get Ontario Health Insurance card for the first time and want to know:

1. Will they give it to me the same day or mail it to me ?
2. How long will it take in the mail ?
3. Do you require one document for each list (they have 3 lists mentioned) OR can there be an overlap like a permanent resident card which appears on both list 1 and list 3 . The list I talk about is at

http://www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca/mbs/ssb/forms/ssbforms.nsf/FormDetail?openform&ENV=WWE&NO=014-9998E-82

4. All I have is a temporary license and a PR card ? Is it enough to get insurance ?

thanks

1) mail.
2) about a month, once you´ve satisfied your 3 months residency.
3) Apartment rental agreement or proof of residence purchase.
4) No, see #3.

1. what 3 month residency ? Will I get the card after 3 months once I apply for it OR will get it in a month but will kick in 3 months from my time of application

2. the list just mentions apartment rental/purchase as one option. Won´t my temporary driver´s license and PR card do just fine ? My initial question was that do I need one document from each list (i.e. 3 documents in total) because some documents appear in more than once list. I just want to make sure carrying 2 documents (Temporary License and PR card) is ok ?

Thanks.

In order to avoir abuses against the health system, they ask for apartment rental/purchase (it´s a proof that you live in Canada right now); you will receive your card after three months of your first arrival (that´s the waiting time).

You can use your driving license as proof of address.
It is silly because they don´t need proof of address for your license :)
We had to use our license as they didn´t believe our lease was the original ( they won´t accept copies)
The woman at service ontario passed on this tip to us , so you can definetly use your license

You need total of 3 documents. You cannot use one document twice. For example, if you use PR Card as Proof of Eligible Status, you cannot use PR Card again for Support of Identity.

If you are going to use Temporary Driver´s Lisence as Support of Identity, you have to come up with another document for Proof of Residency.
