Subject: URGENT- check list
I would really appreciate your help on this:
On check list that I am planning to mail with the application for my husband it says to include Original Application for Permanent Resident completed by sponsored person.

But then again in Guide Part 3 (available on this website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/fc.html ) on Page 2 say Application for permanent resident, completed by principal applicant, You must submit three copies.
How many copies do we really have to include?
I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance.

I would follow the country specific instructions, and submit three forms.

Think of it this way. Even if it´s wrong, and you only need to submit one form, CIC is unlikely to reject your application because you submitted more copies than were required. On the other hand, if they really need three, but you only send one, I can see a bureaucrat rejecting it.

Remember, this is just my opinion.

Thank you for your replay.

Is there somebody here in this forum who was sponsoring a spouse outside Canada, a spouse that was living in States? How many copies of Application for permanent resident did you guys send?

Hi Jassy,

if you are sponsoring your husband ONLY, and he doesn´t have any children, then you don´t even have to fill out the second page of that form. it is only for family members, which in this case include his children, other members who plan to come with him, or you - his spouse, but you are allready a citizen of Canada, so your name doens´t have to appear there. I don´t even see where you got the information about 3 copies, ´cause the only thing thay mention is that if he has more family members than there is room on the paper, then you need to make more copies, so each family memeber can fill it out. I can´t garantee you this 100%, but that is my understanding, and besides, I am doing the same thing for my husband, and I was also confused about that page 2, so I callled immigration, and that was the answer I was given. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I was/am someone, an American, was/is being sponsored by my husband for permanent residence. My application was/is being handled by the Regional Programme Centre in Buffalo, NY. When we submitted the applications (my PR application and his sponsorship application) we submitted three copies of my permanent residence application.

I´m guessing that we did the right thing because they finished processing my application on Decemeber 20th and sent a letter requesting my passport. I may not have needed to include the additional copies, but it doesn´t hurt to include them just in case.

As for the second page of the permanent residence application. I wouldn´t recommend leaving it blank. Instead write "Not Applicable" in the Family Name box for each column.

A.K. - you´re correct about needing to make more copies of the second page if you need more room. The information Jassy was referring to is found on the Appendix A Document Checklist - Immigrant. It says to include 3 copies of the completed "Application for Permanent Residence in Canada". While the Document Checklist you include with your PR application doesn´t state this, I recommend including the additional copies of the "Application for Permanent Residence in Canada" just to be on the safe side.

Mel, I just checked the form and you are right, BUT..at the bottom of the form the date when the form was revised last says 12-2004, and obviously this is something new, because when I was submitting it (November 2004), this was not a requirement. So, Jassy, yes, you should then submit 3 copies.

Thank you all for your response.
Lots of people get confused because Part C is different for States then other per example African countries.
I will send three copies and let God be on my side..... lets hope this will be over soon.
Once again, thank you all.

I didnt send 3 copies... what should I do?? (in reply to: URGENT- check list)
There are 2 different requirements listed in the checklists for submitting the applications for USA applicants. The sponsor checklist states to send in only the original, whereas the immigrant checklist states to send in 3 copies of the Application for Permanent Residence and the Schedule 1. I didnt realize this until I sent off my application to Mississauga.

I only sent in the original of the Application for Permanent Residence (but I did send 3 copies of the Schedule 1). Should I send in the other 2 copies or just wait it out? If I send them in, where do I send them to? Mississauga or Buffalo? Since I dont have a client ID (I just mailed in my application on February 14), will they be able to match my additional copies to my file that is sitting in a pile somewhere?

I dont want any delays... somehow I cant believe I am the only one that didnt send in 3 copies. Is there someone out there that applied via USA, that didnt send in 3 copies and has information to share as to whether they were requested the additional copies?

Thanks for your help and support.
