Subject: Not sure what to do
I arrived in Canada BC from the UK in March 2008 to be with my fiance ,in May 2008 we got married after knowing one another for 6 years.
I have applied for my permanent residence and have been told it will take till Feb 2009 to be sorted. I was all so informed that after 8 months I could start work. In the mean time I have just received my Temporary resident status and found on it that I can NOT work or take on any education training.
My husband is on disability due to health problems.

I am hoping you can solve a few problems that are concerning my self and my husband.

I came over with funds to support myself till I could find work, but I have now used it all up, my husband also has used his savings up due to not being able to work.
He receives $900.00 a month are apartment we rent is costing us $920.00 a month, no money left to pay bills or food , we are having to turn to the food banks for help.Looking for cheaper apartments but with no luck at the moment.
Would my husband be able to claim for extra money on me until my Permanent residence has been sorted .
Do I need a National Security number if so how do I apply for one
I want to start work as soon as possible , can I have it changed so that I can start work or do I have to wait it out till February 2009

Regards
Julie

You´re confused!

IF YOU A PR

You can work and go to any HRSDC to obtain your Social Insurance Number.

IF YOUR APPROVED STAGE ONE APPLY FOR YOUR OPEN WORK PERMIT.

IF YOUR PARTNER GOES ON WELFARE NOW YOU WILL BE FOUND INADMISSIBLE BECAUSE CIC WILL CHECK WITH THE WELFARE AUTHORITIES.

First thing you have to do is re-read any correspondence CIC has sent to you.

Then do what you have to do.

If you would of applied outside of Canada you would probably be a PR by now.

Get the facts straight.
