Subject: Occupation Specific Work Permits |

TO ALL
I´ve heard of silly solutions but this one takes the cake. http://www.thestar.com/article/552556
All workers deserve to be treated fairly, period.
Allowing a foreign Bricklayer/Registered Nurse etc. to move from one company to another seems fair or is it. Allowing worm pickers, mushroom pickers, seasonal agricultural workers or persons in occupations that the employer has to cover flight costs to Canada to work anywhere in a particular occupation is illogical.
How will there be any control at all as to when and if the temporary worker leaves.
We are all experiencing troubling times. IT Sector, Auto Sector, this sector that sector and now Mushrooms.
There is a special program that brings foreign workers to the Kitchener Waterloo area from the Philippines to check the sex of baby chicks. How one does that I don´t know! Certain Occupations are labour intensive and probably quite smelly. The issue is this that all workers deserve to be treated fairly!
70 Foreign Workers laid off all at once!!!!!! The employer should be punished.
HOW MANY MUSHROOM FARMS ARE THERE IN CANADA?
HOW WILL THEY FIND A NEW EMPLOYER?
I KEEP SCREAMING ABOUT PROCESSING TIMES SO LETS PUT THESE MUSHROOM PICKERS TO WORK FOR CIC IN VEGREVILLE. THEY COULD NOT SLOW DOWN PROCESSING TIMES FURTHER NO MATTER WHAT.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp#temp_res
THESE MUSHROOM FARM WORKERS WILL HAVE TO WAIT 76 DAYS TO GET A DIFFERENT EMPLOYER SPECIFIC WORK PERMIT IF THEY "EVER" FIND A NEW EMPLOYER!
We can and must do better!
Come on Minister Kenny hire these workers to speed up processing times at Vegreville CPC, Mississauga CPC and any other Case Processing Centre!!!!!
