One thing to remember is that Toronto has one of the highest costs of livings in all of Canada. From talking to friends who live there, and looking into it myself...unless you have two people working full-time jobs (or one person with an extremely extremely well paying one - I´m talking making $40,000-$50,000 or possibly more a year) then things will be tight.

If you´re looking for moderate lifestyle and you don´t think that you´ll be able to make enough money when you first arrive, I would seriously consider looking into places outside of Toronto (in the surrounding cities). A few places you may want to look are Oshawa/Whitby, Hamilton, Pickering, Ajax, Milton, and Brampton. All these places are close enough so that you can commute to Toronto each day (should you chose to work there) but they´re outside city so I believe the cost of living is a bit lower.
