| Subject: PR card Renewal |
Hi All,
I have a question regarding PR card renewal. If the card expires and i´m still not a citizen yet.. can i renew it? would thet give me trouble if let´s say i want to travel out side of canada?
Is it required to apply for citizenship?

1. You can renew it anytime...if maitain the residency obligation...even it is expired 2/3 years back. If you are citizen then no question of renewal correct?
2. If you go outside with an expired card then you either have to enter Canada by a pvt. vehicle (car from the USA or Charter a plane)...
OR: have to take a 1 time entry visa from the Caandian consulate overseas by proofing your valid PR status, 50$ fee.
3. Not req´d for citizenship, expired card is fine.

All documents that you live in Canada and didn´t lose your PR status; home lease...car registration...proof of job...pay stubs...bank statements...Driving license...
Will be asked few questions about the city you claim to live..like what is the public bus name in Toronto? Where is Missisauga..? Very easy questions but if you don´t live there realy then can´t answer.

I applied for my renewal card six month ago now it sin the local office ,the call center told me that it may takes up to three month,my family is living in ottawa I should travel soon from canada with my expired card,is there any way to get a travel document from ottawa by explaining that I should return back to Ottawa because my wife and my son at canadian school,I do not want to have any risk by refusing my return back from visa office abroad.please help me
