Work, work, work, and here is one more quality that helps a lot, not only in Canada but even in the most remote parts of the World--work and creativity. If you speak and write clean and literate English, that helps a lot too.

who makes it... those who are not afraid to work and take a few risks. Those who are not afraid to change careers (I am on my 3rd.)

Some of the most successful Canadians are immigrants who left a home country to escape political or social injustice and have embraced Canada as their second chance at a good life for their children. Notice I do not say for themselves. They are realistic about adjustments and how long things take. Much to their surprise, often their own lives far exceed their hopes and expectations as a result of this attitude.

It is true.... (in reply to: Who usually succeeds in Canada??)
What you mention is true. People have to get adjusted to the reality of canadian market, they have to be open and maybe to consider a different career. It is very important too to be positive and open. Stop making negative remarks about Canada and accept reality the way it is. Do not follow other´s experiences because I am sure many immigrants may share negative experiences but every situation has to be analized by itself::: Do people who have had negative experiences have a good english level??? Are they suitable for the positions they are applying for???
My biggest advice would be::STOP reading negative posters (which does not mean you have to close your eyes to the reality)but it doesn´t matter in what country you are in:::
If you put negative ideas in you brain you will have a great chance to become a looser.

Hi Sharon, you are right, I am one of those kind of people too. I don´t think I enjoy my life before I came to Canada. Just because I love Canadian ways of appreicate each other´s culture, freedom of speech. Like me, I came from a country which dosen´t allow their citizen has their own view. In Canada I don´t have to afarid to write my view in here, I don´t have to afarid if I do so, gonna result a criminal record, gonna take away by secret police maybe hiding just beside your seat and take care of you. ther is something you can not buy.
People who said Canada is not a place for earnning big money.

There is something you can not buy.
I pick up oyster just from beach every weeks, I didn´t get ill. I have never heard people get rob in my town.

Hot chicks who you don´t know gonna kiss you in the new year celebration.

Anyway, maybe I am a werid person

I think people should learn how to appreciate.
For PR, you guys can even get interest free student loan and grant, not me, I am still a graduated student with work permit.

Canada gives you one more chance to practice your life.
Ok, people come to a new place, you should not first go to check jobs, cold call something like that, I always disagree with that.

I think what you should do is go to school, no matter what, you need make friends, bulit conenction. This is far more effective than your cold call. Once you go to schools, you may have chance to do Co-op, Internship, then that´s the chance to find a job.

We should learn how to change, don´t just stick and said, I used to be a manager in my home country, right now pizza boy instead, come on, just go to study something useful and you really like it. You can even go to study Jazz, if you like.

Ok, life needs to be happy, I am some of person who can always satisfied my life.As long as I can make living, I am happy, really.
