Subject: current economic situation in canada
My name is Toni and I intend to move in Canada next year. However, it seems that Canada?s economy has been seriously caught by the ongoing recession, so I would really like to now what are the real job opportunities in Canada, especially for immigrants, considering that Canadian government is continuously attracting new people to move there, but in reality, situation is very tough even for native Canadians. By profession, I am experienced petrochemical engineer and I aim to go to Alberta, so I would appreciate if somebody (particularly native Canadians) gives me honest outlook for what is going on down there...

Native Canadian´s?????

Hopefully you mean Canadian Citizens!

You seem to be looking for an argument and not an answer.

You ask a question asking about the global recession compared to the Canadian Economy then state "but in reality, situation is very tough even for native Canadians"!

This recession only recently happened and you imply the Canadian government is doing something wrong by your comment! Quote "considering that Canadian government is continuously attracting new people to move there" UnQuote

WHERE ARE YOU GETTING YOUR FACTS?

Well come on tell us where you are from ?????

How do you expect to be here in 2009???

According to all media reports Canada is in the best position of all the G8 countries to weather this recession, -- what does that mean?

WE HAVE WORK IN NEWFOUNDLAND, NOVA SCOTIA, ALBERTA AND ONTARIO FOR A PETROCHEMICAL ENGINEER who behaves differently.

Roy's comment (in reply to: current economic situation in canada)
That´s exactly how an honest answer looks like,Roy...you surely got me wrong taking my question and my opinion too seriously by distorting my words "Native Canadian?s" and almost my whole discusion, pointing out that I even offended Canadian government, what is completely wrong assumption...

By the way, as I have already decided, I´m gonna move to Canada and I intend to be as good Canadian citizen as you are, Roy, and to participate to the Canadian society honestly, in the same way as I do to my own country...

So Roy, my friend, you were supposed to be much more spontaneous and open-hearded, not so official, as my question was far from being rude or offensive...

However, thanks for giving me this valuable sites and who knows, may be we will have some beer soon at the Ontario´s lake shore...

Immigration must stop for now, people are fighting over jobs......and our welfare system keeps on putting out more money to immigrants......this is why we are in trouble. The Government only wants votes so they use the ´open door policy´ for their own greed.

Hi Toni,

Being a petroleum engineer and your intent to move to the province of Alberta is a very good decision. Your occupation is on the priority lists. You are qualified to apply as long as you meet the minimum 67 points.

In Alberta, as you might already know, there is a city called Fort McMurry , click on the link to know more....

This is the place for you due to the abundance of oil and sands. Canada economic situation is still relatively good compare to our Southern neighbor. Please pursue your dream and good luck. Canada is good.

Best Regards,

@Sunny: yeah good of course, since you make a living out of it.
LOL
My advice : stay out of Canada if you have mid-to-top level of income. Don´t say we didn´t warn you.

Toni and Sanip (in reply to: current economic situation in canada)
I am an international MBA student presently in Canada and I must say that compared to other countries including USA and the UK, Canada is better. It is great for schooling and a wonderful place to settle down. Sure, the economic situation is not the best it has ever been, but considering how well the country has held up against the recession, I think there really is nothing to complain about.

Toni, Fort McMurray is a great place to search for you occupation and Samip, you will find a lot of reputable universities that offer your choice of course.

Canada is a great place and I think it is not a bad place to consider moving to, however the companies employing need experienced individuals. So, hopefully, yo have enough experience to satisfy them. Else, you will have to start from the bottom and make your way up.

Good Luck
