Subject: Student visa, with common law??
  Hi all,
I´m an american citizen , who is engaged to a hungarian citizen. Here´s the catch, my girlfriend was deported from the states almost 2 years ago on the grounds of no status. I´m currently applying to universities and wanting to take her with me as a common law , then marry in canada. would canadian immigration take this into account and deny her?

Are you currently living together? Definition of Common-Law is that you have been together for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. It sounds like you aren´t currently together which would invalidate the common-law claim.

I don´t think deportation in the US would affect her claim into Canada ~ however you will need to make sure you fulfill the evidence of being common-law.
