Subject: Change to NOC list
  Hi,

1)My application for permanent residence reached the Buffalo office before February 2008 but the AOR date was March 22nd. Can anyone clarify whether my application will be assessed using the old criteria or will the new criteria apply. Does the date of receipt refer to the date the application is received through postal mail in the office or does it refer to the date it is opened for processing (AOR date)

2)Is there a possibility that the applications that were filed after February but which do not meet the new criteria will be put in queue and processed later after the applications with the preferred NOC codes have been processed.

Thanks in advance for your replites.

1) my guess would be postmark date
2) no - my understanding is that those applications not within the 28 NOC codes will be returned with a refund. this will occur until all the old backlog of applications is cleared. After that they may change the process again.

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for your reply. I checked the tracking number with which I sent my application and it was received at the Buffalo office on Jan 25, 2008 - so if the receiving date does refer to postmark date as you suggested, I should be fine. Thanks.

not necessarily. the new rules mean anyone in the pre-Feb 28 line up is going to wait forever. the preferred NOC codes will get processed and then they will pick up the remainder of the quota from the PRE Feb 28 applications.

get yourself a job offer and out of the general line up that could have you waiting forever.

Hi,

I have a similar situation to ´Platinum´. My occupation is NOT on the new NOC list of 38 occupations.

Have you got any idea how to find a job in Canada from Europe without any contacts?

Thanks!

unless you can find a legitimate job offer - which takes you out of the normal FSW system.

the simple answer is... if you are not part of the expanded 38NOC categories (don´t just look at the headings) then at the moment your skills are not required in Canada.
