I am a citizen of Canada who has been married (same sex) to an American for 2 years and I have been living with them in the US. I am going back to Canada to apply for sponsorship of my wife but I haven´t had a job in a few years because I have been travelling back and forth to stay with her as long as I could. I hope to be back working before I send the application. Will there be a problem with me sponsoring her because they ask for prove of income for the last 12 months from a tax form. With me not having an income I didn´t file taxes. Should I wait on the application or just go ahead with it.

(in reply to: Spousal Sponsorship) Income is not an issue.
If the person you are sponsoring is: a) your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal
partner AND he or she has dependent children who have children of their own; or b) your
dependent child and he or she has dependent children, you will have to complete the Financial Evaluation form instead.

Good luck!
