Subject: Harold - Expired PR Card and my immigration Status
  If your wife is with you and you are a Canadian citizen, yes she fulfills her PR requirements, so no issues there.

Getting a travel card each time would be a hassle, so getting the PR card renewed is probably better.

As to the best way to renew the card, I don’t know about that. Perhaps someone else can answer.

To renew the PR card, there is no overseas processing.

Though can apply while staying overseas, but must recieve the card in person. Need to have a Canadian address for contact, CIC will send the letter advising the date and place to recieve, or if any farther issue/info. is needed they´ll mail. Usually the most critical issue is meeting the photo specification. The size is very unique.
