hi, i´m wondering if anyone has any info/advice on whether someone would be eligible for PR with medical history of mental illness?
I´m wondering if, once the medical is completed, do the immigration people look into medical history from your home country?
I have had a history of depression dating back the last 5 or so years, but in 2006 was treated for bipolar disorder, although after a few months it seemed to ´go away´. i actually had a very bad depression and ended up in my local psych ward (voluntarily) for a week or so, after which i was asked some questions and diagnosed with bipolar, and given lithium and prozac. after a few months i realised i didn´t need the lithium and just continued taking the prozac when i felt i needed it.
i´ve never had another manic episode (if i even had one in the first place), and so now consider myself to just have depression at times (now, for instance, i don´t take any medication, and am fine). prozac works very well for me; i´m able to function absolutely fine when depressed and taking it.
i feel this bipolar stuff was all a kind of mistake, but have no idea if i am still bipolar according to my doctors at home. i would rather not even go into it at the medical, but don´t know if this would be seen as lying/falsifying information? just don´t want it to affect my application adversely...
help! :)
