Subject: URGENT Have a week deadline to decide. Please
I received a letter to start the PR process and to send all my documents by the end of September (in that letter was state that I had 4 months to send my documents). At that time I hired a lawyer and he sent my documents.

Just a week ago the lawyer disappear with all my money. And to this day I received a letter from the Immigration Officer saying my documentation is incomplete and a list of the documents that are missing.

I´m trying as hard as I can to gather my documentation again (the lawyer took must of it) and selling everything I have to raise the proof of founds.

My question is: Am I still attached to the "4 months deadline" to deliver all the documents or as the second letter from the Officer not state any deadline I must assume I can take a bit more time to gather my documents and send them again?

FYI: As the "4 month deadline" is in 1 week, I won´t be able to gather all the documentation by that time so, if I send it on that deadline basis I would be sending an incomplete package "again".

They can be tolerant for the delay (based on my experience with Buffalo office). They asked for a document and gave me a deadline. For certain reason, I couldn´t send it. After 6 months, they sent me another letter as a reminder but they said in the letter that if the file is not completed within 60 days , it will be closed. Therefore, as long as you don´t receive such a letter, you are safe. HOWEVER, write a letter and send it in the express mail stating that you are currently collecting the requested documents and you haven´t yet finished. Ask for extension of the deadline. You may need to explain the reasons.

Don´t forget to withdraw this stupid laywer as your representative. There is a form you have to fill (send it with the letter, as a proof that you are saying the truth).

Change my application to single? (in reply to: URGENT Have a week deadline to decide. Please)
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer "Anonymous".

I have another question here.

Which are my options to separate my common-law from my application, I mean:

a. As I still need to send my documents, should I change the form to just "the applicant" without a common-law? (in the first application I sent about 2 years ago it was "the applicant and a common-law partner")
b. Should I wait till the process is over (we receive our PR) to separate our processes?

This is because the lawyer I talked about in my post was referred to me by her and he is her "family lawyer". Today, I´m still trying to find out if she is involved in this fraud and of course I´m still in love with her. But I can´t do much about it cause she´s in the San Francisco right now with her family "trying to fix this" but she´s already working there.

Sorry to place some of my personal problems in here, don´t know who to talk to sometimes...
