Subject: Change in marital status at final stage of PR
  Hi
I have applied for PR and it is in final stage. In the last month I received letter from Seattle immigration office mentioning to submit my passport for further process. Recently I got married in India. I am going to inform to Seattle office of change in my martial status. This will affect my PR process? If I submit my passport to immigration office with change in marital status information, will they issue immigration visa?

Please advise?
Thanks in advance.
UMK

Yes, you need to let them know. Yes it will impact your application. Your spouse will need to undergo the medical even if she is a non-accompanying dependent.

Failure to advise them before your visa is issued will result in her being excluded from a spousal immigration. Don´t make this mistake as she won´t be able to come to Canada to be with you.

Thanks a lot Carrie!

I am going to inform them of change in my marital status. How much time will take to update wife´s name in my immigration file and medical test. Do you have any idea? If I request them to issue me a PR as it is in final stage and later I will sponsor wife because at present economics our jobs are not safe. If we get laid off in Canada, it is very difficult to get the jobs on work permit visa. So if I request them to issue me a PR and later I will sponsor my wife. Will they consider my request?
Please inform.
Regards,
UMK

Whether or not you include your wife or not in the PR application, you have to declare her in the application and she needs to undergo medical, security and criminal checks. You can expect a delay of about 2-6 months in anycase.

What if I include a letter stating that my marital status changed but I dont want to include her at the moment in my PR application ( which is in final the status. I was asked to send my passport). But will sponsor her in the future as a separate application.

Will they continue processing my application or wait for medical and security checks of my spouse. If they as for medical checks how long will that delay my PR application?

YOU MUST ADD YOUR WIFE BEFORE LANDING -even if you don´t intend to bring her with you. Period. Otherwise you are commiting misrepresentation to CIC and can have your PR cancelled - AND you may never sponsor your wife in future.

Stop trying to play games with this. Assume you will be adding a few extra months to your application time.

I send the my marital status update stating that she wont be accompanying me at this moment since she is full time employed.

Now I am wondering how much time will that add to my PR application? Will it go beyond 6 months?

What documents does she has to send to CIC: I only now background declaration, security and medical checks. Does she also have to obtain the remaining things that I have submitted ( like letters from the companies she worked and still working, transcripts from universities, proof of English )

Does she has to send those to Seattle office where my application is now

Whether she accompanies you or not, she has to undergo medical, security and background checks. You can expect a time delay of few months. If you are not claiming points through her then you do not need to provide her employment letters. Also, no proof of English proficiency is required in her case.

If your application is with Seattle, you mail the documents to Seattle.
