What questions do the immigration officers ask your employer?

They do IF they are in doubt of the submitted documents . Otherwise I dont think they have time to verify each applicant and his employer as it might take processing forever !!!

Chuck: We had no indication whether or not our employer had been contacted, and no one here is an official on the subject. All we can do is speculate. If/when you are granted your PR, there will be plenty to stress about; try not to worry so much now. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Good luck!

Chuck, I dont think that the CIC officers have that much time to check your previous employers to verify about your experiences, job title, salary, etc. All I know that they inquire most about your criminal records(if any), IELTS, Adaptability record- whether you got any 1st blood relative or any previous stay in Canada.

So Chill.

I have my references, which were my previous supervisors. They are at the same company as I. We all have been at this company for well over 10 years. Higher management likes to control and be advised a events that isn´t in their need to know.

Thank you all for the information.

Come on guys of course CIC checks with employers.

That was one of the main reasons for creating regulation 11.

Remember when Hong Kong was reverting back to control by mainland China and the applications were in the ten of thousands per month.

Mr. XYZ would apply in Havana, Cuba to speed things up and then Havana would contact Hong Kong to call up Mr. XYZ employer and Visa Post staff from Hong Kong would say do it yourself. With the difference in Language it could not be verified by Havana staff so they would kick the (quality applicant on paper) for an Interview and then Mr. XYZ would transfer his file back to Hong Kong for $50.00 and be right at the front of the line.

That is why they won´t transfer files anymore too!!!!

All one has to do is google misrepresentation Federal Court and your bound to find some case law.

The local engaged employee is the one that checks and especially if your employee letter is suspicious.

Remember it is never good to lie or embellish too much!

Roy: I don´t think Chuck is worried about embellishments on his resume, I think he is concerned he might lose his job if his employer finds out he´s conducting another job search or thinking about relocating. It is not an unreasonable concern. I once worked for a company like that and it can really wreak havoc on your entire life.

Chuck: I was just referring to all the details of making a major move: packing your possessions, selling a home, buying a new home, leaving friends, feeling lonely, car exportation/importation, changing utility companies, dealing with the banks, learning new systems, figuring your way around your new town, etc etc. Just all the stuff that comes with packing up one life and starting another. Nothing major--I didn´t mean to worry you further!

I really think it sounds like you´ve done everything right. Whether or not CIC contacts your current employer isn´t the biggest of your hurdles. You´ve made the commitment thus far; are you ready to take the leap?

I now know what you mean about the stress.

Yes, what you went through is what others went through. Probably twice as worse. That is the reason why I have my references, which were my previous supervisors. The references are called to verify all the criteria while employed at the current company.

Did you and your family have a interview? If so, was it before the medical exam?

No, we didn´t have an interview. Everything was very straightforward. Good luck with the rest of the process!
