Dear All,
I know that I have got a reply from Anonymous about the time line, but quite frankly I am getting a bit restless and depressed for waiting so long, so I was hoping to get some feedback from more people that went through that same thing. I just got my application status updated to medical results received, and I was hoping that that is with the waiting they will request my passport within the week as I was told at the interview, but the thing is that the application status is still " In process" it did not change to " decision Made". So please share. the more the cases the better picture I will get.

What you have been told at the interview is far away from the real . After medical it could take up to 8 months and in some cases the applicants were asked to submit new medicals, what means more than a year . My visa was issued only after 8 months from medical and I had left 4 months to expiry .

We submitted our medical June 2008 it was processed November 2008 now our application is on Background check so from December till now we don?t have any update does anyone knows how long will it take. tnx

Don´t get stressed. I know that waiting is very hard. I was on the verge of getting crazy and losing my mind during waiting after my medicals, especially on reading the stories of people who have been waiting for a year or more and asked to renew their medicals.
I got mine within two months and half after my medicals.
The average of waiting is between 2-6 months...more or less (AT BUFFALO CENTER)
Be cautious that the visa validity time is one year FROM THE DATE YOU DID THE MEDICALS, NOT FROM THE DATE YOU STAMP THE VISA.....
For example, if you receive a letter of passport request eigth months after your medicals, the validity of the visa would be four months only..VERY INSANE!
This broken system in the processing deprive people from planning ahead..you cannot know when you get the visa, when you can land and when you can do the pre-landing arrangements!!!!!!!!
I am saying this not to drive you crazy but to be cautious and prepare yourself. What you heard at the interview can be very reassuring..the immigration officer who interviewed you might know certain things such as the fact that you cleared the security check (the thing that always prolongs the waiting after the medicals). This means you might get it very soon..hopefully not exceeding 2-3 months.....(people wait more than 5 months to a year are usually those who get stuck in security clearance)
