| Subject: can i apply before the one-year limitation |

Hi,
i am a new comer from China and want to apply for permanent resident. However, the instruction from cic indicates that i can only do so (Buffalo) after living in Canada for one year. Is it right? In addition, which one is the better choice for the application, Buffalo or Beijing? Thanks very much in advavce!

Ok, if there is regulation here, you don´t wanna obey, what happen if a place saying"no smoke" and you insist saying I wanna smoke?
Second one, according to process time statistics, i think you should have general sense about both office

No problem, one year is not long, just wait a little bid, but Beijing process can really last quite long enough

I personally would apply once you get your docs in order. I moved to Canada 8/1/03 and applied 1/30/04. My file wasn´t even assessed until 9/29/04 (just over 1 year). Of course regardless, I had to apply in Buffalo as I am a US citizen. Even if you apply after being here 6-10 months, you will still get a jump on it since by the time they assess your file you will have been here a year.

Come on, your American Citizen, we are Candadian temporary reisdents, of course you can only apply to the Buffalo office, no other choice,however, don´t know why it took so long to process

I am a temporary Canadian resident too and like I said, I know I can only apply to Buffalo. I´m just giving out my situation and suggestion to because maybe it will help him. If he applies even a few months before the 1 year guideline, by the time the file is assessed he will have been here 1 year. Don´t know if it would work, but any way to cut a few months off the already ridiculas timelines is helpful
