Subject: Sponsoring My Wife While outside Canada.
  Important Information:
- lived in China for 5.5 years
- Canadian Citizen (Born in Canada)

Concerns:
- How can I prove an ability to sponsor my wife in Canada when I am not currently working/living there. What would people recommend as the best way to process the paperwork. Should I return to Canada first and start settling in? We were hoping to return to Canada together in a few months.

Most parts of the application does not worry me. I believe that we will successfully handle everything else but this.

Thank you for any help
Peter

Sponsors not residing in Canada must provide evidence that they reside exclusively outside Canada on the date of giving the undertaking and will reside in Canada at the time their sponsored spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner and/or children become permanent residents of Canada. Evidence that they will reside in Canada may include one or more of the following:

? letter from an employer;
? letter of acceptance to a Canadian educational institution;
? proof of having rented/bought a dwelling in Canada;
? reasonable plans for re-establishing in Canada or severing ties to the other country.

sponsoring family while outside Canada (in reply to: Sponsoring My Wife While outside Canada.)
Good day,

Will be moving to Canada this year (first timer) as permanent resident, unfortunately without my family. I do plan to sponsor them as soon as possible after arriving in Canada.

The problem I have is that I´m currently employed in Hong Kong and and continue working with my employer by working remotely in Canada, but still will need to travel a lot (of course will take note of the limitations on how long I can be outside Canada given my Permanent Resident status). Also my employer is not a Canadian Company.

My biggest worry is that given my employer is Hong Kong based, I may be classified as not residing in Canada. I do plan to maintain my apartment in Hong Kong and a house in the Philippines as I travel a lot in Asia given the nature of my work.

Also, I can say that, even if I will joined by my Family in Canada, I will still continue working in Hong Kong given that pay is good and the flexibility to work in Canada.

Not really sure if this a problem given that I have the impression that most immigrant resign from their work and move totally in Canada.

Thanks for any advise.

BR, JOJO
