Are they gonna speed the backlog or ignore it. I applied in 2007 for skilled worker to the CIC in Egypt, I just received from CIC the letter confirming my interest to continue, then I never heard any thing from them since last October 2008.... My agent told me that all all the cases received before the new changes are considered pending at the Embassy for god knows when..... do you think it is true or they will process the old cases with the new ones together? Does anyone knows what year are they processing from the old cases?

each embassy has a different backlog and the processing times on the CIC website will be the closest anyone can give you as to how long you can expect to wait.

HOWEVER, we have a new set of rules (that is why you got a letter). The way things look at the moment, applications since February 2008 that fall within the 38 NOC codes will be looked at first and form the base of each years target quota. Once those applications have been considered, CIC will go back and top up the quota with those applications outside the NOC codes that are currently waiting in the pre-Feb 2008 backlog.

We have not heard this explanation in any official way but we are piecing together various comments, documents and instructions. You got a letter because they want to know if you wish to continue to wait. Every baglock application must be reviewed so they are hoping those who have changed their minds will withdraw.

We are also getting signals from CIC that they may reduce the annual intake amount until the employment situation improves. no point in allowing someone in to the country and then not have a job for them.
