just wondering... how long really is background check? i´ve been waiting for my passport request letter for eternity. my medical and fbi results are expiring this year (may and june, respectively).
can anyone give me some valid explanation over my predicament? I applied in CIC Buffalo in August 2003. My interview was waived. I am a professional with social work experience in New York City. I have two undergraduate degrees and a Master´s degree holder. I have no criminal background or legal impediment.
Are there anyone out there with the same timeline as me and still waiting for the passport request letter?

If you are from the countries that CIC believes sponsoring terrorism, it may take over a year in most cases. So just relax.

I heard it takes about 3 months, but also depends on your background. If you are born and raised in States and have not criminal record it should not be that long. Patient is the key for all of us.
