| Subject: Surrender ing PR and reapplying |

Hi,
Due to family reasons, I have been unable to meet the 2/5 years requirement to maintain my PR. I would like to reapply for residence through the New Delhi visa post. While I am aware that I need to surrender my existing PR (granted in December 2005) before reapplying, I am unsure how to do this. Can someone please advise? Do I just send in a request letter to the visa post?
Secondly, does my inability to meet residency requirements the first time around have any negative impact on my second application? There were many reasons, all genuine, due to which I couldnt retain my PR.
