Subject: Parents visiting Canada
  Hi..

My parents are visiting me in canada and they arrived yesterday. On arrival they went to the Canada customs officer and got it stamped on their passport. One thing they forgot to do was to go to the immigration office there. What do you guys suggest me to do in this case.

Thanks

The customs officer does immigration at the port of entry. If there is anything "wrong" or not clear they will send the person to a secondary inspection where they will make a decision to allow or refuse his/her entry into the country. In the case of PR / students / temporary workers they are refered to the secondary to finalize their process.

You don´t have to do anything, they are ok, if they weren´t, trust me... they wouldn´t make it to the exit door in the clearence area.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks Bill for your reply.

I was curious because they normally mention when you will have to leave canada and go back home. There was no mention of the date in their passport. Is´nt the usual time of stay 6 months.

Thanks again.

If there is no date in the passports, it means that they can stay in Canada for a period of 6 months.

Cheers,

Bill
