Subject: Given Name / Surname Mistakes in COPR and Visas |

After a long wait of 7 years I finally have my SW immigrant visa. I received my passports via DHL beginning of this month from CHC Accra, Ghana.
I am highly disappointed to notice that mine and my wife?s given names appear as surnames in the COPRs and Visas while the surnames appear as given names.
I have notified CHC about the mistakes but have not received any response since 12 days.
I would like to ask if someone has faced this type of situation and whether it can cause any problem in landing if I don?t receive any response from CHC Accra before travelling to Canada.

Surname Mistakes in COPR and Visas posting (in reply to: Given Name / Surname Mistakes in COPR and Visas) Ratify it if you can or else it will be on your landing document - and that can be difficult to get changed when you reach Canada. The reason is because it takes an aweful long time (may be up to 6 months) to ratify a record, no matter who committed the mistakes - and that means you will have a problem with your Social Insurance Card, Healthcare Card, Driver´s Licence ... and a bunch of other documents which use the Record of Landing as proof of ID.

(in reply to: Given Name / Surname Mistakes in COPR and Visas) Thank you so much for your reply PAL. I will wait for few more weeks, perhaps I will receive a response from CHC Accra, I am in Nigeria and without their response I cannot send the passports and it is a pity that I cannot talk to anyone there on phone.
