Subject: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?
The Indian bureaucracy is a matter of shame anywhere - inside our outside India, but the idiots that sit at the Consulate in Toronto take the cake. I went to get a new passport and with all the paperwork completed. The two-week deadline given on the website is bullshit, because it has now been already four weeks and they have had the nerve to say it will take 2 more! If it is going to take six weeks for a routine renewal (and I am still an Indian citizen though I am beginning to understand why Indians are so keen to throw off their citizenship!), why the heck do you not SAY so on your website!
I am yet to meet the infamous RAVANA of the consulate - Mr. Tirath Singh - and I´ll keep you all posted on how that goes, whether he listens to reasons, or if he will reveal the same PRICKHOODNESS (there´s a new word for all those stuck-up jerks working there!) that I have encountered in general at the Consulate.
We should start a petition to throw the Consulate out of Canada - they are ruining Canada´s reputation!!

I also totally agree. They make fool out of us by waiting waiting waiting. My wife and me went there to get passport for our newborn baby boy and they gave me twenty hassles. I think they do all this because of religion. But whatever, I totally agree. They are IDIOTS and should get thier balls cut off!

Dummy Indians Holding Jobs They Are Not Fit For ! (in reply to: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?)
Their Rules & Regulations are garbage anyways and so are the people who execute them. They do not allow dual citizenship like as if it is a very great thing to be an Indian citizen. If one were out of status in any country they will not renew his/or her passport. Dumb shit, I don´t think one would give up his/her rights as an Indian if you overstay in another country. How & What does it matter to them anyways ? I heard money talks and Indians walk. Pure bullshit. I never heard of crap like that before.

Sharon, that was so apt. If the US or some such embassy pointed them to "rules", I am pretty sure these guys will perhaps just bow in gratitude and say "thank you".

Indian Consulate at Toronto (in reply to: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?)
Hi,
I have also been to the same consulate and got things done in time. I just wonder about the comments (their level) and if this is the way you complain or talk then only Indian Consulate can still help you with your things, other consulate for sure will through you out...you people expect a lot...right?

Fuming at the Consulate (in reply to: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?)
I agree that some of the posts here were idiotic (to say the least) but I can see how these people may have been harassed into irrational thinking.
Having just left the Consulate of India again after a futile 3 hour wait, I too have some expletives in mind. The process is other-worldly. It is characteristic of something out of the Twilight Zone. I exit the office of Mr. Tirath Singh (on two separate visits) and expect to bump into Rod Serling.
I wish "An" had omitted his last paragraph because he loses credibility, yet he is absolutely justified in feeling utterly dumbfounded -- as am I.
There are no signs in the office to indicate any sort of office procedure. Mr. T. Singh told me one thing on my first visit, but that didn´t apply by my second visit and I have no recourse.
There is a gatekeeper in the office. He looks through you more often than at you, and I´m never certain he heard my situation. I have come to the conclusion that they do not post any signage so that they can make it up as they go along. What they tell you one minute does not hold true an hour later.
I was told to pick up my visa in three weeks. I´ve made three separate visits trying to retrieve my visa. Each time, I´ve been dismissed, forgotten, or lied to.
Who are these people? Is there anyone they are accountable to? Do travel agents who sell India know this is happening? More importantly, is this India?I thought they were coming OUT of the dark ages.

No improvement (in reply to: Why is the Indian Consulate at Toronto so idiotic?)
People say that India has advanced leaps and bounds but I don´t see any improvement in the way the Indian consulate and its staff think, work or handle their citizens in foreign lands. Its as hard today to resolve anything at a indian consulate office as it used to be to get anything done in a government office 10 years ago. Their instructions are never clear, you can never get your work done in one shot and without hassle and there is no person including the the top officers who can handle people especially indian nationals in a nice and cordial way. The website looks so old and user unfriendly and the latest procedures and information is never posted. When you go with the information on the website there is always a new surprise waiting for you to warrant another visit or argument with the staff, who gives a damn about you. Also the fees for Indian origin people to visit the family is also outrageous. You have to pay higher because you make money in dollars and the suckers will not let you go so easy. I don´t know what quality of people they hire in the foreign services to serve expatriates and foreigner in first world countries like the US and Canada. They have a long way to when it comes to becoming efficient and management. I think the Indian consulate needs more sophistication and polish in their staff.
