Subject: Are there any couples met online, then got married,
  Hello guys...

I was talking to a friend and he warned me to write in my application that i met and knew my wife online in the beginning!!!

He told me to never do this and the immigration office refused almost of cases with internet relations because they think this relation is not genuine and just for PR?

Please is there any one applied and got approved and he/she knew the other partner via internet ?

i am more confused now

Please help

Ask yourself this questions!

Is it an offense under the Immigration Act to tell a LIE?
Would it be better to say you met her at Home Depot while she was picking out a new toilet seat?
Do you think that your the only couple who ever met on line?

What you need to do is answer the un-numbered BOLD question that is at the bottom of your questionnaire in detail. You need to focus on the time between your first contact then first meeting and NOW to show how the relationship grew.

We have assisted plenty who have applied this way including those with language difficulties.

I really do not see how your friend could think you are so different!

Me Rude LOL 56.247.119

Dentist USA is being told by his (FRIEND) to LIE which could create a hearing to take away his status whether he is a Permanent Resident or a Citizen of Canada. He/She should be happy they were given quality advice instead of what his friend recommended.

Anonymous 56.247.119 would I feel better if I sugar coated the answer and DentistUSA thought that I was not really serious and went ahead and LIED but his/her partner got caught at the Interview because his Loving Partner told the truth that they met on line!!!!!! NO!

This would be a LIE not a misrepresentation issue!

IRPA Obligation ? answer truthfully

16. (1) A person who makes an application must answer truthfully all questions put to them for the purpose of the examination and must produce a visa and all relevant evidence and documents that the officer reasonably requires.

REGARDLESS OF THE LOCATION OR HOW A LOVING COUPLE MEET THE ANSWERS ON THE FORMS MUST BE TRUTHFUL.

There was a sign at a school that read "It is always better to tell the truth because you don´t have to remember what was said"!

Too many people try to cheat the system regarding spousal sponsorships by stretching the truth or telling a lie.

My advice always tell the truth, PERIOD!

Use the advice of your friend.

It is so silly that you even had to ask that question.

Where are your ethics?

online is not the issue. have you subsequently met? have your families met each of you? how long has the relationship been going on. was there a wedding with guests?

Thousands of couples meet online. I know of several that have completed their immigration successfully.

do you have a joint bank account, have your bought things together? are your cultures and language similar... it will be your job to explain to CIC why it is absolutely logical that you are together. Do not overlook this important aspect of your application.

tell the truth (in reply to: Are there any couples met online, then got married,)
Hi Dentistusa,
I´ve met my husband online (not on a bridal site though) and when we were going through sponsorship we didn´t lie about it. The officer will not look at where you met but if your marriage fake or real. It´s important to show the pictures, letters (emails), phone calls, places you have spent time together at, etc. In case your wife will have an interview at the embassy, it´s important for her to tell the truth and to be herself. The officers are very good there :) they will tell if she tells truth and if she really loves you, not just wants to come to Canada with your help lol. Anyway, good luck with your application and wish you a happy life together when she will at last join you here.
