Subject: Visa Extension, Client ID and Sponsorship
I applied my visa extension on Jan 08, 2009 and reason was that my spouse was going to sponsor me for(inland)spousal sponsorship. Then on Jan 28, we submitted our application for PR. After few weeks I got my visa extension along with a Client ID written on its top right corner. On ECAS I put this ID and it states "We received your application for permanent residence on January 29, 2009.

We started processing your application on February 19, 2009".

My questions are:
Is this same Client ID normally people wait for after applying their PR?

Am I still supposed to receive a confirmation letter from CIC?

How come I got this client ID on my visa extension approval?

Please clear me on this.

Regards,

Tania

The difference is you are applying from within Canada which is sooooooooo dangerous. That is your client ID# for ever. Visa post applications are different.

What will you do if you failed to convince the CIC staff member in Vegreville that your marriage is genuine and you live in the GTA.

R U willing to never leave Canada in the next four years?

That is how long it will take if kicked for an interview and you only get approved after interview which should be 2-3 years then another 1-2 for landing.

Not always best to try to jump to the front of the line.

I wish and Hope you really proved your relationship.

Thank you very much for telling me about consequences but I am still waiting for the answers to my actual questions.

the ID helps them tie the Visa extension to the family class sponsorship. Logical, don´t you think?

Your spouse will receive a yes or no letter sometime in the future. There is not confirmation letter.

at this stage, you may want to give some serious consideration to withdrawing your application and filing and outland family class application. You can still be visiting for the majority of the application.

Reason being... it takes less than half the time and should CIC not believe your relationship is genuine, you have an appeal option. Under the application you now have submitted, there is absolutely no appeal and it takes forever.

Thank you for taking the time out for your response. The reason we had to choose inland sponsorship is because I am in a same sex marraige, I am from an Muslim country governed by Islamic laws. Which means once I got married in Canada to my partner I could not have gone back to my own country (under any circumstances) because of fear of persecution.
We have provided a lot of proof in our application to show the genuity of our relationship. So given the above circumstances would you still suggest we withdraw our application?

In-Canada application (in reply to: Visa Extension, Client ID and Sponsorship)
Tania,

You should have done it through Buffalo, most same sex couples I know went through Buffalo - no problem. My friend, also in a same sex relationship, got her application finalized in 8 months in Buffalo, and plus sponsorship part of 3 months, less than a year. In-Canada, about 3 years if you are lucky.
Given you have already done it inland, you should be prepared for a lengthy processing time because your file may be forwarded to the local immigration office for a review and possibly, an interview - so your partner better be prepared to support you financially for the next two years because it will take probably that long to get your conditional approval.
Good luck.

I am puzzled, what do the same sex couple do when it comes to the nitty gritty of sex itself?
