Subject: March 04 AOR from Buffalo - Still waiting for IA
I am a Foreign Student in Canada and had applied to Buffalo in Feb 2004 with AOR in March. However since then, I have not received any news from the Buffalo office regarding IA. Looking at other timelines, it has normally been taking 7 to 8 months for IA after AOR.

I was wondering if there was anyone else besides me in the same "waiting and wondering" situation.

Also, what could the reasons be for the delay. Could it be due to changing addresses (twice in my case) or sending updated educational documents? Or can there be any other explanation? Also, can Ecas be trusted for changing addresses as I have used it only rather then sending faxes.

I would really appreciate if any one can comment on this. Thanks

address changes and timing seem to be a real problem with CIC. I would try and confirm your status with them and find out if there has been any returned mail.

Same situation (in reply to: March 04 AOR from Buffalo - Still waiting for IA)
I was in the same situation... I changed my address but the buffalo office didnt chang it with their records... they kept sending me letters at my old address. I checked with them and found my Medicals request and additional document request there...

You better check with the old address if they received your mail...

Remember... if medicals are not done withing 60 days then the application becomes void... Better hurry up...

Good Luck.

Plus if they keep requiring more supporting document from you, it for sure takes longer time. They started processing my case end of Jul, 2004, and in Dec. 2004 they required a Police Certificate fron me to finalize my application.
During their IA time, they didn´t require any extra document from me.
It´s important for every one, who applys for PR, to submit all the supporting document at one time.

Thanks for you replies everyone.
If I am not able to get any information on any mails sent on the old address, how can I verify returned mails and confirm address changes with CIC buffalo. Is there any telephone number I can call on or should I send a letter/fax to them?

Thanks

Send fax is much faster, you can not call them due to privicy act.explain your situation and leave your correct address, they may reply you or not

Mak 74 ...i made the same mistake as you did ...changing addr on ecas while your application is in Buffalo. You can only chnage your addr on ecas if your application is in Canada ...but obviously yours is in buffalo. So if i were you i´d send them a letter with change of address.

I also applied in Feb 04 but haven´t received IA yet. Got my CAIPS notes and paper screening was done on 30th october ...they did not give me 67 points but sent my file for review to a senior officer to make the decision regarding points.

Thanks Zeus, I did not know this fact regarding changing addreses for Buffalo. I thought that having an address in Canada was one of the requirements. I will send the fax immidiately and also check my caips notes.

Regards

I just found out from the tenants of the old address that I had submitted with the application, that a couple of letters did arrive in december and that they returned them. However I have no way of knowing if any of them had been from cic buffalo. (The address forwarding service had expired)

Although I am sending a fax for change of address immidiately along with a letter requesting any returned mail to be sent again to the new address, I am wondering if this would work and if there is anything I can do more. Caips would take over a month and "in case" there has been request for additional documents and medical with deadlines, it could get very close.

I would really appreciate any suggestions on how I should handle this issue.

Thanks,
