| Subject: name based police certificate ok? |

Hello,
Has anyone submit US State police certificate with just name based?
We did not take fingerprint to have police certificate from my country and I assumed it is also the case for one from US State.
The State we used to live issue PC without fingerprint. but they will send with notary letter together.
Do you think its OK? or it is absolutely necessary to have fingerprint PC???

Name based PC doesn´t work for immigration to CA; I have checked with the embassy, and the answer is no. So go ahead doing your fingerprint based background check with USA.

It is ok for US States one if the State does not require fingerprint for the application process.
Needless to say, for FBI, require to have fingerprint for the process.
I have confirmed with CIC office not too long time ago.

sorry i used diferent name.
and accidentally submitted posting in the middle of the writing.
I e-mailed CIC office without expectation, but they did replied me!
They told me they accepted name based US state PC not too long time ago.

Amber,
Please be sure to make the difference between state certificate and federal (FBI). The federal certificate (last time I checked) require a finger print, while states (the one I lived in do not require finger print).
Do waste time and send the finger prints to FBI, it only takes about 4 weeks if you mention to FBI that you need it for Canadian immigration.
