Curious what the average processing time for rehabilitation is? The CIC site says 12 - 24 months ... seems a bit long to me?

Thanks.

If your in the States why not try a TRV or see if they will deem you rehabilitated at the border.

Hi Roy,

I am in Canada, but my wife was deemed inadmissible at the border. She was convicted with a non-violent FELONY in 1991, which has since been expunged. She also has a DUI approaching 10 years old. Immigration officers told us that Rehabilitation would be the only chance she has to come over. She has been out of Canada now for 6-weeks. I am still living in Canada with our son. Not too keen on the processing time frame on the CIC site.

Roy, I talked to immigration about a TRV, but they told me they are very difficult to get since they are losing track of people with expired visas. They also told me that it is more difficult for a spouse to get one b/c there is more incentive for them to remain in Canada once the visa expires.

You talked to a new employee that is not CBSA or a real CIC Officer that would ever be assigned to make that decision.

If the person only has a DUI get real read the Buffalo RPC site regarding TRV´s. Prove that your partner is changed. Get on with your life, family reunification being a corner stone of the Immigration Act and all.

Roy, I met with my MP yesterday ... pretty much a waste of time ... said he couldn´t do anything. I did mention family reunification, and the MP´s assistant said ´it doesn´t apply if you have a criminal record´. I was sort-of taken back by this ...

My wife has changed a great deal. A clean record, she raised a 14 year-old, home schooled him up til this year, has an Ontario business license and is even taking French language courses.

One more thing ... To prove that she has changed, any hints as to how to do this on paper?

Thanks Roy, I really really really appreciate your comments.

Patrick

Any letter from any Mothers Against Drunk Drivers or AA, Priest etc will be plenty of evidence.
